This is DW. I call him my little Einstein. It is said he bears a resemblance to Doc from Back to the Future and more amusingly an elderly gentleman from our town. Locals chuckle at that one.
Some people love his growing locks. Others are anxious to know when we will be introducing him to the hairdresser.
I have mixed feelings about cutting DW's hair. At some stage it's going to begin looking scruffy. Some might say it already does. I don't have any desire to have a son with hair flowing down his back but he will only be little for a short while and once it's cut, it's gone.
A hair cut is only a little thing but it's made a big difference. Miss Pea has learnt that she can make decisions about her own body. She is empowered by this knowledge and in the weeks and months since, we have watched her gain confidence.
Perhaps I'm being precious but why should DW be denied such a positive experience just because he is a boy? Why do I feel pressured to cut his beautiful hair because he is my son and not my daughter?
