Invitation to Play With Fabric Scraps

It took me a little too long as a parent to realise that the most engaging toys aren't really toys at all.

One of Miss Pea's favorite 'untoys' is my fabric stash. I have a small basket of mostly large scraps which I display for her to find when we have an 'inside day'.

She recently made a patchwork of our kitchen floor, exploring each piece as she went.

"I am soooo into this!" she enthused.

  1. My girls love playing with fabric scraps too! And it's amazing the things they'll decide to do with them! :)

  2. This is a wonderful idea! My daughter's favourite toys are humble hand towels. She folds them and turns them into beds for her stuffed toys. She will do this for hours at a time! I have a bit of a fabric stash - this could be a great way to use up some of the scraps I seem to accumulate :)

  3. Mine do too! I had bought some different fabrics to make a playmat for our animals but the girls love playing with them as they are, making something different each time so I haven't bother sewing them together as I planned.

  5. We love "untoys" here too, especially water and the plastics cupboard. Today I cleared out my wardrobe and passed on a bunch of scarves to my four year old for her play, she's been having a lovely time :) I think she'd love playing with fabric scraps too.
